“Time Immemorial” is an experience that everyone should see. It explores the unknown history of the “African American” which re-defines the historical characteristics of what an “African American” is. The show follows the timeline from “before slavery” until “today”. It brings to the forefront individuals like, “El Yanga and Prince Whipple who were a big part of history, but somewhat unknown by society today. It also looks at the works of Tupac Shakur, Nat King Cole, Jimi Hendrix and Billie Holiday and how music has played an intricate part in the molding of African American historical representations. It expands itself through the telling of African American history by using dance, music, poetry, and song to portray the timelines in which African Americans have traversed and fought to earn their freedom, their right to their own voice and a future for their children. “Time Immemorial is fun, thought-provoking and entertaining for the whole family. Come out and learn about some very interesting facts of African American history in a very unique and different way and also how Rockland County has been a part of the “African American Experience”.
